I haven’t been keeping up with the news of Magic and have moved on to other stuff and hobbies. The latest “card game” I’m now playing is the One Piece AR Carddass Formation on the iPhone. It’s a neat little game where you can scan the QR codes on the collectible cards to get the One Piece anime/manga characters into the game.

Magic 2013 Demo on PS3

I tried out the PS3 version and I find the graphics sharper than the iPad 2. I also went back to the 2012 version and found the system UI in 2013 to be better. The loading times also seem to be better. One thing about the top-down view in 2013, you can no longer see your lands as easily.

You don't get the option to mulligan in DOtP until you buy the whole game. A couple things change gameplay-wise from the demo.

Magic 2013 iPad impressions

I’ve been looking forward to playing this as I had the PS3 2012 version and wanted to see the improvements. For one, I find the loading time on the iPad to be much faster. I don’t intend to unlock the full version yet as I’m still busy playing Diablo 3 and can afford to wait for any price drop.

Overall, the game is fun but I have some minor issues with the graphics on my iPad 2. It seems that the game were meant for the new iPad as it wasn’t sharp and in Planechase mode particularly, the cards are hard to read unless you zoom in. I also had difficulty with discarding more than 1 card as there are no visual indicators for the cards that were selected. Those are still not enough to keep me from buying it, even at full price, but only after I’m done with Diablo.

Update: I also notice that there is no option to mulligan your hand at the start.

No iPhone version and I think it’s going to be too small for it. 999mb and I bet a chunk of it is for the Retina graphics of the new iPad.

I personally prefer more four-ofs creatures to one-ofs creatures. Ironically, I’ve also been seeing Birthing Pods get cut down to 2. I hope to see Darwin in a Pro Tour or Grand Prix finals and watch him on YouTube. All the best, Darwin!

I’ve noticed it since the first event deck I opened. The cards were legal but definitely felt like I’ve got pirated copies.

Not as innovative as previous Event Decks. The lack of much AVR cards also seem like Wizards wants you to buy more AVR packs to supplement the deck. For example, Silverblade Paladdin is showing up in human decks and definitely fits in the UW deck.

It has a bit about the “cycle of hate” that PV mentioned too. I think the best card in Standard that he mentioned should be Lingering Souls. The top cards all have the word “souls” in them.
